Football: WVU Moves to 16th in Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia advanced one spot to 16th in this week’s USA Today Top 25 football coaches poll, released on Sunday.

Last week the Mountaineers were rated 17th. Also, West Virginia remained at 18th in the Associated Press media poll. Big East member Louisville returned to both polls, ranking 24th in the AP poll and 25th in the coaches poll. Rutgers, 6-2, became bowl-eligible for the first time since 1992 and received 12 votes in the media poll and six in the USA Today poll.

West Virginia, 6-1, battles UConn Wednesday night at Milan Puskar Stadium. The contest will kickoff at 7:30 pm and will be televised nationally by ESPN2. There are still tickets remaining for the game and they can be purchased by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office toll-free at 1-800-WVU GAME. Two-for-the-price-of-one ticket coupons can by picked up at any United Bank outlet and redeemed up until game time.
