Week 10 Results Show One Big Surprise

The high school football regular season is winding down, and as the playoffs approach, each outcome means more and more.

Beckley Woodrow Wilson, which has spent the entire season atop the WVSSAC Class AAA ratings, will not be in that position after week 10, as the Eagles fell to Nitro, 32-21, Friday. With Beckley’s loss, No. 2 Morgantown, which was a 28-10 victor over No. 7 University Friday, will move up to No. 1 in next week’s ratings. The Mohigans, who are the defending state champs and riding a 24-game win streak, have completed their regular season and will apparently be the top seed when the playoffs begin Nov. 11-12.

Woodrow Wilson and University were the only top 10 teams in any of the state’s three classes to suffer defeats. In Class A, No. 1 Williamstown set a state record by winning its 45th straight regular season game, as the Yellow Jackets defeated Ritchie County, 58-8.

Here are all the scores from throughout the state of West Virginia on Friday.
