Mountain Lions Win 2nd Straight

Montgomery, WV Concord held on tonight to win their second straight at the WVU Tech Classic tonight against Claflin 90-84. Tyrone Anderson once again lead the Lions with 31 points and 7 rebounds. Tyrone lit it up from the arc going 5 for 7 on three point shots. Following Tyrone was Zack Gordon, who scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.

The game started out looking like it was going to be all Claflin with the Panthers jumping out to an early 6-2 run but quickly the Lions jumped back into it making a back and forth hoop la. Then with nine minutes in the period Concord hit Claflin with a 9-2 run that made the game 26-2 in favor of the Mountain Lions. Claflin's answer back was an 8-2 run that gave them back the lead with just under four minutes to go. The half finished strong for Claflin when they kept Concord down to take the lead, 36-40 at the end of the first half.

Claflin jumped out strong in the second half on the Mountain Lions giving them a 8-2 run that left the Mountain Lions down by 10 early in the first half. Concord then bit back with an 8-2 run that put them only down by 2 points with thirteen minutes to go.

With 12:21 to go the rain started to fall hard on Claflin when Anthony Lansdowne put up a 3-pointer to give the Lions a 59-56 lead. After that it was all Concord who held that lead for pretty much the rest of the game. In the final 6 minutes Concord took off to an 12-2 run that left Claflin in the coal dust. Claflin fought hard to come back but couldn't make it happen and gave the lions their second straight win 90-84.
