DURHAM, N.C.J.J. Redick repeated as a unanimous selection to the All-ACC first team and Shelden Williams became the 11th player in school history appointed to the squad unanimously and was the only unanimous player on the All-ACC Defensive team as the 2006 version of the All-ACC, All-ACC Freshman and All-ACC Defensive teams were announced Monday.

Redick and Williams become the first pair of Blue Devils to receive unanimous selection in school history and just the third duo in league history. UNC's Doug Moe and York Larese were both unanimous in 1961 when four of the five first-teamers were unanimous while Michael Jordan and Sam Perkins from the Tar Heel's were both unanimous selections in 1984.

Josh McRoberts and Greg Paulus made the All-ACC Freshman team and Sean Dockery was named honorable mention on the All-ACC Defensive team.

Redick and Williams become Duke’s 23rd and 24th players named first team All-ACC at least twice in program history and the first since Jason Williams in 2001 and ’02. Duke has had at least two players honored on the all-ACC teams every year since 1995 and have had two or more first team selections six times in the past nine seasons. Overall 2006 marks the 13th time in school history Duke has had two first team selections.

Redick earned his fourth all-ACC selection after being named third team in 2003 and second team in 2004 to go with his first team selections in 2005 and ’06. Only Gene Banks (1978-81) and Johnny Dawkins (1983-86) were named to any of the all-ACC teams four times in Duke history. Williams finishes his career with three all-ACC selections as he was a second team selection in 2004 and first team in 2005.

Redick becomes the league’s 13th player in history to be named a unanimous selection twice and joins Art Heyman (1961, ’62 and ’63) and Danny Ferry (1988, ’89) as Blue Devils on that list. Heyman and N.C. State’s David Thompson (1973, ’74 and ’75) are the only three-time unanimous selections. Duke’s other unanimous selections are Jeff Mullins (1964), Bob Verga (1967), Mike Gminski (1979), Grant Hill (1994), Elton Brand (1999), Chris Carrawell (2000) and Jason Williams (2002).

With McRoberts and Paulus both making the All-ACC Freshman team, it marked the second time two Blue Devils have appeared on the team joining Jason Williams and Carlos Boozer in 2000. Of the 14 teams since 1993 when the freshman team started, Duke has placed 13 players on the team in 11 different seasons. Current Blue Devils J.J. Redick (2003) and DeMarcus Nelson (2005) were also on the all-freshman squad.

The inaugural all-Defense team saw Williams become the first unanimous choice to that team and saw Dockery just five points off the first team as he made honorable mention.

The league’s player, coach, freshman and defensive players of the year will be released Tuesday, March 7.

The Blue Devils return to action at the 53rd annual ACC Tournament, where Duke has the top seed for the 16th time in school history. Duke will face the winner of Thursday's match-up of Miami and Clemson on Friday at 12 p.m. ET.
