Prep basketball tourneys still in holiday spirit

Christmas has come and gone, but high school basketball fans still have a few presents to open this week as several holiday tournaments get underway this week around the Kanawha Valley.

At Poca, the tournament season began Tuesday with the opening round of the BB&T Putnam County Classic girls tournament. Hurricane faced Winfield at 6 p.m. and the host Dots battled Buffalo at 8. The boys portion of the tourney begins today with the same pairings and starting times. Consolation games will be played Thursday and championship games Friday.

Charleston Catholic, St. Albans, Sissonville and South Charleston are also playing host to events this week.
