Boys' State Tourney Brackets Set



The girls’ basketball teams competed for the state title this past week, and now the boys will take the floor at the Charleston Civic Center this coming week, battling for the state crown in each of the three classes.

The boys’ state tournament starts at the Civic Center on Wednesday, as quarterfinal action will take place in Class AAA, AA and A the first two days. The winners will advance to semifinals on Friday, and then the championship games will be played on Saturday.

MetroNews has broadcast every game of the state tournament for 20 years. Over 30 MetroNews radio affiliates will carry all or part of the action from this year’s boys’ state tournament. In addition, the broadcast can also be heard live over the Internet at www.WVStateTournament.com.. That site will provide real time scoring, game recaps and much, much more.

In addition, MetroNews will televise the Class AAA championship game on Saturday evening. Several TV stations in West Virginia will carry that live broadcast.

Here are the brackets for this year’s state tournament:

Class AAA Quarterfinals

No. 4 Martinsburg. No. 5 Capital, Wednesday at 11:15 a.m.

No. 1 Huntington vs. No. 8 Fairmont Senior, Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

No. 3 Woodrow Wilson vs. No. 6 Wheeling Park, Thursday at 11:15 a.m.

No. 2 George Washington vs. No. 7 Bridgeport, Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Semifinals

Huntington/Fairmont Senior winner vs. Martinsburg/Capital winner, Friday at 5:30 p.m.

George Washington/Bridgeport winner vs. Woodrow Wilson/Wheeling Park winner, Friday at 9 p.m.

Finals

Saturday at 7:15 p.m.


Class AA Quarterfinals

No. 3 Ravenswood vs. No. 6 Keyser, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

No. 2 Logan vs. No. 7 Mount View, Wednesday at 1 p.m.

No. 4 Bluefield vs. No. 5 Lincoln, Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

No. 1 Weir vs. No. 8 Clay County, Wednesday at 9:00 p.m.

Semifinals

Logan/Mt. View winner vs. Ravenswood/Keyser winner, Friday at 9:30 a.m.
