Four WVIAC Men's Basketball Squads Punch Dance Card to March Madness

WVIAC Tournament champion West Virginia State is the highest seeded of four West Virginia Conference men's basketball squads to receive bids to the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament. The second-seeded Jackets, who downed Salem International 69-67 on Saturday night for the league tournament title, will face Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament winner Edinboro on Saturday in Wilson, NC.

Top-seed Barton (NC) will serve as the regional host. The Bulldogs are 25-3 and claimed the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference regular season and tournament crowns. Eighth-seed Wheeling Jesuit makes their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and will face the hosts in the opening round.

West Virginia Conference regular season winner Alderson-Broaddus earned their fifth straight regional bid. The third-seeded Battlers draw conference rival Salem International in their first contest SIU, the WVIAC regular season and tournament runners-up, heads to the NCAA Tournament for a league-best ninth time. The squads met in last season's first round with the Tigers claiming a win. A-B won this year's regular season matchup by a 70-69 margin in overtime.

Fourth seeded Shippensburg and defending regional champion Mount Olive meet in the other first round game.

The semifinals are slated for Sunday evening. The championship is set for Tuesday, March 14. Game times and ticket information will be made available later.
