Four WVIAC Squads Headline NCAA Division Ii Women's Basketball East Regional

Top-seeded Charleston (26-4) heads up the contingent of four West Virginia Conference women's basketball squads that earned bids into the NCAA Division II East Regional. The Golden Eagles, who claimed the WVIAC Tournament title on Saturday night with an 81-59 win over Glenville State, will host the eight-team event at Eddie King Gymnasium. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament runner-up Edinboro (21-9), the eighth seed, provides UC's opening round opposition on Friday.

Second seed Glenville State (28-2) is making their fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers were the WVIAC regular season champions and will square off with Barton (23-7) from the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference.

Wheeling Jesuit (26-4) is back in the field for a second consecutive season. The fifth-seeded Cardinals will face PSAC champion California (PA) in the first round in a rematch from last season. Cal rallied for a 78-68 victory in last season's regional tournament.

West Liberty State (24-6) draws the sixth seed. The Hilltoppers return to the post-season after seeing a six-year streak end in 2005. WLSC battles CVAC titleholder Anderson in their first assignment.

First round games take place on Friday with the semifinals to follow on Saturday. The championship is slated for Monday, March 13. Charleston is the defending regional champion. Game times and ticket information will be announced later.
