Tigers kick past James Monroe

PRINCETON — Jevon Carpenter recorded a hat trick and the Princeton Tigers soccer team kicked to an 8-1 win over the James Monroe Mavericks on Monday evening at the Princeton stadium.
Carpenter got the first two goals, at the seven- and 15-minute marks. Jeremy Chambers provided an assist on the first goal and scored, himself, in the 49th minute to put the Tigers up 3-0 at halftime.
Bud Ware netted the James Monroe goal shortly after intermission. Carpenter got his third goal in the 53rd minute. Austin Barrett made it 5-1 in the 69th minute of play.
Lukas Nieto, who played the first half in goal, was down the field to score at the 72-minute mark, getting an assist from Alex Sinicrope. Clay Austin took an assist by Nieto and bagged a goal in the 75th minute. Two minutes later, Daniel Haye wrapped up the scoring.
Princeton (3-5-2) will play next on Thursday night in a triple-header. The girls play Greenbrier East at 5 p.m., followed by the boys’ varsity against the Spartans at about 7 p.m. The JV boys will conclude the busy night.
