Mavs outlast Tigers on volleyball court

PRINCETON — An exciting night of volleyball at the Princeton Senior High gym ended with the James Monroe Mavericks defeating the homestanding Tigers three games to two on Monday.
The Mavericks took the first, third and fifth games by margins of 25-21, 25-23 and 15-13. Princeton’s winning games were by scores of 25-14 and 25-21.
Princeton’s Kala Hardin had 26 assists and three aces; Laura Whitt had 12 kills, four blocks, five digs and three aces; Amanda Smith had four blocks and four aces; and Brittini McClung had 18 kills and four aces. Heather Walters had four digs and Louie Fields had two aces.
Princeton’s next match is today at Greenbrier West.
