The 6-foot-3 center just helped the Irish win their first Class A state championship in girls basketball since 1979.
In the days leading up to the state tournament, Maier was named West Virginia Girls Basketball Player of the Year and Kanawha Valley Player of the Year.
Maier can now add one more honor to her resume before attending High Point University on a basketball scholarship in the fall.
On Monday, the West Virginia Sports Writers Association named her captain of the Class A girls basketball all-state team.
"I'm very honored by that, and all the awards that I've been given this year, and all through my career,'' Maier said. "I think we really had the perfect ending to this season ... and this goes right along with that.''
Maier was equally pleased to hear that teammate Kim Abcouwer, Charleston Catholic's senior point guard, was named to the second team.
"This year we were all very focused,'' Maier said. "It was our main goal to win the state championship. ... It was my main goal personally, and the awards we get as a team just go to show how hard we all worked.''
Maier was the only two-time selection to the first team. She was joined there by seniors Kara Boczek of Trinity, Eva Grose of Montcalm, Megan Kelley of Doddridge County and Lacey Tustin of Cameron. The team was completed by juniors Leah Fletcher of South Harrison and Teresa Tokodi of Parkersburg Catholic, and freshman Dusti Chapman of St. Joseph.
Boczek (5-7) became the first player from Trinity -- a Christian school in Morgantown -- to earn first team all-state honors. The guard averaged 14.1 points and finished her career as the school's first 1,000-point career scorer.
Grose (5-11) guided the Generals to their third straight state tournament bid and an overall 20-3 record with her strong inside play and her ability to shoot from the perimeter. The center averaged 14.2 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Kelley (5-10) dominated games for the Bulldogs from her power forward position and combined her strength with agility to average 14.1 points and seven rebounds. Doddridge finished the season ranked in the Associated Press' Top 10.
Tustin (6-0) kept Cameron in the Top 10 all season with her play in the middle. The Dragons finished the year with a 17-6 record, while Tustin averaged 16.4 points and 11 rebounds.
Fletcher (5-6) led the Hawks to their third state tournament appearance in four years with her 18.3 scoring average, 4.7 assists per game and defensive prowess from the point guard position. She averaged five steals. Fletcher guided the Hawks on a 12-game winning streak to finish the year with a loss to Charleston Catholic in the Class A semifinals.
Tokodi (6-1) became the focal point of a Parkersburg Catholic team that was coming off two straight Class A championships after losing several starters, including 2006 All-State captain and older sister Sarah Tokodi, to graduation and longtime coach Dick Wildt to retirement. The junior Tokodi helped the Crusaderettes reach the state title game, averaging 17 points and nine rebounds.
Chapman (5-3) helped the Irish to their first-ever state tournament berth and gave the eventual champions their closest game of the tournament. The freshman point guard averaged 18.1 points and four steals, while St. Joe finished the year with a 16-7 record.
The second team is captained by Fayetteville junior Casey Smith. It also includes seniors Abcouwer, Dani Church from Calhoun County, Christin Shinaberry from Pocahontas County, Fallon Fansler from East Hardy and Brittany King from Paden City. Sophomores Patience Brewer from Tug Valley and Wheeling Central's Kara DeSantis also are second teamers.
The third team captain is Notre Dame senior Jessica Lockett, and includes seniors Cassie Rudd of Meadow Bridge, Whitney Minigh of Gilmer County and Lyndsey Padden of Parkersburg Catholic. South Harrison junior Joanna Dempsey, Wheeling Central junior Audra Droginske, Greater Beckley Christian sophomore Jill Rogers and St. Joseph freshman Brittany Moore round out the rest of the third team.
